Tucker DeVries was West Virginia’s first addition off the offseason, announcing he’d be transferring to WVU, following his dad from Drake.

DeVries was the back-to-back Missouri Conference Player of the Year in his sophomore and junior years at Drake. This past season he averaged 21.6 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.6 steals per game, being the only NCAA Division I men’s basketball player to average at least 20.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game in 2023-2024.

As a prospect, the 6-foot-7 forward/guard was a four-star and ranked as the No. 2 overall recruit in Iowa in the Class of 2021 and No. 101 nationally according to 247Sports. Despite having offers from top programs such as Creighton, Florida Iowa State and Wisconsin, he decided to stay in Iowa and play for his dad at Drake.

DeVries was also ranked as a four-star transfer and the 4th overall best transfer by On3. He scored a career-high 39 points against UIC on Feb. 28, where he also finished with 13 rebounds, seven assists, four steals and a block. He’s had six games with over 30+ points in his career.

DeVries has worked with many food and drink brands including AE Dairy, Applebee’s, B-Bops (a fast food chain in central Iowa) and Raising Cane’s.
