West Virginia Director of Athletics Wren Baker has signed a two-year contract extension, according to Pete Thamel of ESPN.

Baker, who came to WVU in December of 2022 has already had a lot to handle thus far through his tenure. Baker has dealt with the end of the Bob Huggins era, as well as trying to navigate how to deal with a football program which was now bowl eligible when he arrived, before turning into a nine-win team in 2023.

Baker has hired men’s basketball head coach Darian DeVries, women’s basketball head coach Mark Kellogg, and volleyball coach Jen Greeny during his time at WVU. He is also searching for a new WVU head swimming and diving coach.

The extension keeps Baker at WVU through December of 2030, and Thamel said that WVU officials “have been pleased” with how he has handled things through his first year and a half at the helm of WVU athletics.
